As an educator, you may claim the session / lesson as a Host. There are a few benefits to teaching your classes as the class host.
- Able to mute particular students should there be any control required to install order in the class.
- Able to highlight (pin) any participant to present or show and tell something.
As a default, teachers can share screens without claiming host as well.
This is how you can claim as a host to have full control of class.
Step by Step:
- Click Join Class to attend the lesson.
- Once you are on your Zoom screen, click “Participant” at the bottom of the Zoom screen.
- At the bottom right of the pop-up window (or Participant List), find “Claim Host” at the bottom right and click it. “Enter Host Key to Claim Host”
- Once clicked, this window will pop-up. Enter the Host Key as shown for the lesson.
Note: The Host Key will be generated 30 minutes before the lesson starts so it is normal to show as Not Available when you log on to check your lesson.
- After entering the 6 digit Host Key, click Claim Host.
- Viola! You are the host now… To verify it, you may check the Participant List. (Host, me) will be shown at the side of your name.
A Kind Reminder:
Every lesson is recorded by default. Please do not stop the recording of the lesson. Your students are relying on the recording to do their revision
