FAQs

LearningTigers is a digital platform connecting students to their educators and both parties can enjoy learning and teaching classes within the same platform. We are not an agent for tutors.

We have very close relationships with the parents and one of their main purposes joining this learning platform is to nurture their children’s skills and talents via various classes available on the platform. Similarly, educators have great partnerships with us to access the resources and features of the platform so that they are able to teach anywhere at their own time.

At the minimum, you will need to have a reliable laptop with a front camera, internet access and a quiet place or corner to conduct the class. You may want to have a good quality mic so that your students can hear you clearly (with a good audio).

A licensed account is not required. You may access the class with a browser or with a basic zoom account (free account). LearningTigers is providing licensed (paid) accounts for all classes hence there is no burden for our educators.

Teaching part-time with us is not considered as an employee of LearningTigers, unless if you are offered a full-time teaching position with us. Please do ask us if you are looking for a full-time position as we may be hiring from time-to-time.

All fees are collected by the platform from the parents or learners directly.

The Settlement Amount will be transferred via bank transfer to your bank at end of the month.

The short answer is no. As an online learning platform, we protect the interest of both parties; educators and learners. Therefore you do not need to worry about not getting your pay (Settlement Amount) at the end of the month, when you have conducted your classes.

Classes outside of the platform and/or side-deals are strictly prohibited. All communication with learners and parents must happen within the platform.

Communication outside of the platform is strictly prohibited as the privacy of the parents and learners are utmost important. As an online learning platform that put our customers first, we have built a level of trust with parents and they are more comfortable dealing directly with this platform for all classes. All communications with learners and parents must happen within the platform.

If there is any report from parents or if educators are found to be contacting parents or learners outside of the platform, we would unfortunately be required to take the necessary actions, which may include the termination of the involved educators from the platform.

One of the beauty of this platform is that you can configure your classes to suit your needs. You may choose one-to-one class, small group or even large group classes. You just need to specify the size of the class when creating your class. For certain tuition classes, normally we will create the classes and assign them to you.

All classes are recorded for the learners’ revisions. The recordings are strictly for the students who have paid for the classes, so rest assured that they are not used elsewhere. In some rare cases, the recordings may be reviewed by us when there is any dispute between learners and educators.

As you are the host of the class session, please keep the recordings on during the live classes. Stopping the recordings will result in the learners not able to watch the recordings for their revisions. This may result in discount in their next payment for the classes and may impact your Settlement Amount too.

We always encourage educators to stay committed to the classes time that have been scheduled because any class cancellation may affect the students learning as well as overall evaluation of your classes. However, at times, we understand that this is unavoidable.

There is a Cancel Class feature for the specific lesson and educators are required to state the reason for the class cancellation that will be announced to all learners in the same class.

Important note: As a responsible educator, any class that is unable to be conducted must be cancelled on the platform by yourself in time to avoid students turning up in the class without any educator.

Best Practices to reduce the impact on students and your class:

1. Plan in advance for your classes. If there is a class needed to be cancelled, please cancel the affected classes on the platform at least 24 hours before the class with a valid reason.

2. For last minute cancellation (less than 24 hours’ notice to parents), please ensure that these are applicable for emergency cases only. For example, if you cancel a class with less than 24 hours’ notice and quoted “having a holiday with family” as your reason, that is not a convincing reason.

Hiding profile is not possible. After all, your teaching profile on the platform is to gain trust of the students and parents. However, you may use your public teaching name such as Teaching Siti or Teacher Wong. Furthermore, you may include more generic information for example, experience teaching in national primary school or international school, rather than pointing out the names of the schools or education centers where you have taught previously.

It is a general perception – the more interesting your profile is, the more parents will be interested in your classes. Hence, having a visible competent profile will be a big plus for you.
